It appears once again Democrat House member Sheila Jackson Lee has been caught in a lie.
“I ask my colleagues to oppose this resolution for it is in fact a veiled attempt at impeachment and it undermines the law that allows a president to do his job. A historical fact: President Bush pushed this nation into a war that had little to do with apprehending terrorists. We did not seek an impeachment of President Bush, because as an executive, he had his authority. President Obama has the authority.”
She spoke this in opposition to Republican’s latest effort to sue the President over his overreach of power.
The interesting part is where she said democrats never sought to impeach former President George Bush. This is such a lie it will be interesting to see how news networks, or people like Rachel Maddow, if they chose to show it, how they will explain it.
In 2008 a resolution was put forth called H.Res.1258, titled:
“Impeaching George W. Bush, President of the United States, of high crimes and misdemeanors.”
Lee became a cosponsor of this very bill on 9/18/2008.
Yet, according to Lee’s latest statements, she, nor did any other democrat (by the wording of ‘we’) never sought to impeach Bush. If what she said is true, then who co-sponsored the bill and placed her name on it?
The truth is more likely she is hoping other democrats have forgotten and will not read anything from the conservative side on this subject. If Lee was a Republican, she would have never won re-election with her record.
Its time to stop giving democrats a free pass whenever they make such comments.
