Anyone browsing YouTube has run across videos of parliament members and congressional members confronting others, sometimes even devolving into fights. Its been in Japan, South Korea, Venezuela, and others.
On Friday, August 1, 2014, the US House of Representatives had something similar happen. It did not involve fists, but democrat Nancy Pelosi decided to charge across the House floor to waggle her finger at a Republican congressman speaking.
It happened during a debate on illegal immigration. Speaking was republican Tom Marino of Pennsylvania. It seems Pelosi took offense to some of the truths that were spoken about democrats.
“Under the leadership of the former speaker … when in 2009 and 2010, they had the House, the Senate and the White House, and they knew this problem existed,” Marino said. “They didn’t have the strength to go after it back then. But now are trying to make a political issue out of it now.”
What Marino says is true. During the years of 2009 to 2010 the Democrats had what most called a ‘super’ majority in congress. That majority allowed them to pass bill like the ACA, more commonly called Obamacare. With such a majority they could have done something about immigration, but choose not to.
Pelosi charged across the floor, upset with the words Marino said. After a few words Marino went on, and finally Pelosi walked across wagging her finger at him. This typical behavior from democrats only shows their unwillingness to work with people on the other side of the isle.
Pelosi even chased down Marino after the session was over. Her office has since stated they have accepted Marino’s apology for what happened.
The ironic twist, Marino’s staff says the Congressman has offered no apology.
