It was not too long ago that a mother of a killed son was the darling of the media. Cindy Sheehan was paraded around by the media as the poster mother for all mothers who were against the war in Iraq. They protested a Republican President, as such the media had no problem pushing the stories onto the front page.
In fact, in 2005, Maureen Dowd wrote an opinion piece in the New York Times, stating the following about Bush. “But his humanitarianism will remain inhumane as long as he fails to understand that the moral authority of parents who bury children killed in Iraq is absolute”.
Fast forward six years. A democrat has now been President since 2009, he has claimed credit for leaving Iraq, and ending the threat of terrorism with the death of Osama bin Laden. Mothers are once again showing their displeasure.
Two recent examples are the mother of Aaron Vaughn, who was part of Seal team 6 who went on the mission to kill Osama bin Laden. She, along with her husband penned a open letter voicing their displeasure of Obama’s handling of ISIS. The media, largely ignoring it.
Second, the family of Steven Scotloff, the second reporter who was beheaded by ISIS. They are furious over the administration leaking information that their son was killed the same day Michael Foley was killed by ISIS. And where was their outrage? Buried under a dozen paragraphs.
Seems like the left no longer thinks parents have any moral authority, especially considering their outrage is now focused on a democrat President.
