Monday night Attorney General Eric Holder was on CNN’s ‘The Lead’ and talked about several things. One thing that struck some as odd, was when he spoke about his biggest failure.
“I think the inability to pass reasonable gun safety laws after the Newtown massacre is, for me, something that I take personally as a failure, and something that I think we as a society should take as a failure.”
It is strange that the man entrusted to uphold the laws of the United States makes such a political comment. He was never entrusted to make, write, or pass any law, that is the job of Congress.
Perhaps this is why Holder is seen by many as a failure, he was trying to pass legislation rather than upholding it.
It is a bit ironic that he states this as his biggest failure, especially after the disastrous Fast & Furious which had the State Department selling guns to criminals and the subsequent cover up. It only shows that the position has become source of political power of the President to push his agenda at the expense of the US citizen.
