The reason for the protests, so they say, is the result of a grand jury not to press charges against Officer Wilson in the death of Michael Brown. But the question now, are these protests doing more harm than good?
Its a valid question which every protester should ask themselves. But they will not.
In Ferguson business have been looted, damaged, and burned. Such actions are shown not because they are bad, but those actions will have the most lasting effects.
Looting a store deprives it of its merchandise, and really, stealing something is not a way to improve racial division. Damaging the store means the owner has to pay to for repairs. This means that money is going to come from somewhere, most likely the consumer. And destroying/burning the store down ends up with loss of jobs, paychecks, and could even mean the store doesn’t come back.
Another example is what happened in California when protesters decided to shut down the freeway on I-5. One driver had enough and confronted the protesters”
“I got to go to Ross right now, homie. If I don’t get there, I’m going to get fired. I’ve got six f***ing kids to feed, homie,” Tyree Landrum said. “Motherf***ers get shot every f***ing day. Deal with it the right way, not like this.”
Sadly his plea fell on deaf ears showing the protesters do not care about others. They only want to disrupt and destroy.
They have no plan to fix the problem. They want to cause enough problems and allow someone else to solve it for them. If they really wanted to fix it, they would start by trying to improve relationships between police and communities, especially the poorer areas.
Only when that is done will we start seeing an improvement in such cases.
If there had been communication between Brown and Wilson, knowledge and respect, Brown would have never attacked Wilson, and Wilson would have never shot Brown.
